CONNOLLY HOSPITAL
Connolly Hospital is located in the West Dublin Village of Blanchardstown. It services a catchment population of 331,000 in Dublin West (including Finglas West and Lucan), North Kildare and South County Meath, and is one of the fastest growing catchment population areas in the country.
Connolly Hospital is a 400 bed Dublin Academic Teaching Hospital providing a range of acute medical and surgical clinical services, national Bowel Screen services, acute psychiatric services, psychiatry of old age residential and day services designated residential centres for older persons care, older person day care, outpatient services, diagnostic and support services. Emergency acute general clinical services are provided on a 365 day, 24 hour basis.
CAVAN MONAGHAN HOSPITAL
Cavan Monaghan Hospital currently provides services to the population of both counties and its catchment area extends to counties Meath, Longford and Leitrim. All acute inpatient services are based in Cavan Monaghan Hospital. Cavan Monaghan Hospital provides extensive outpatient, theatre and day services. Cavan Monaghan Hospital also provides a wide range of support services, including: pathology, radiology, pharmacy, physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
Cavan Monaghan Hospital is a bi-located site providing services to the population of both counties and its catchment area extends to counties Meath, Longford and Leitrim. It has a total of 421 beds with 286 of these representing acute in-patient beds. All acute inpatient services are based in Cavan Monaghan Hospital; there were approximately 17,000 acute admissions in 2018. Monaghan Hospital's primary role includes the continuing care for medically discharged patients requiring inpatient step-down and rehabilitation care.
Cavan Monaghan Hospital is a teaching hospital with links to the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians and the Dundalk Institute of Technology. Both sites are actively engaged with HIQA (Health Information & Quality Authority) in meeting their standards to ensure they continually strive to provide a high quality service.
Cavan Monaghan Hospital has an Emergency Department, an Acute Medical Admissions Unit, 5 General Medical wards, 1 General Surgery ward, a maternity ward, a paediatric ward, an ICU, a SCBU, and a CCU. It also has 4 operating theatres, a renal dialysis unit, a surgical day ward, an endoscopy / bronchoscopy unit, a haematology / oncology day ward, and an interventional radiology unit. Orthopaedic, vascular, urological and neurological services are provided by visiting consultants with sessional commitments. The hospital provides services for the care of paediatric and adult patients with cystic fibrosis; the paediatric ward has recently been extended and refurbished to include the provision of 2 high specifications, neutral pressure isolation rooms. It is anticipated that an outpatient antimicrobial therapy service will be launched in 2020 following the recruitment of an OPAT co-ordinator.
NATIONAL ORTHOPAEDIC HOSPITAL, CAPPAGH
The National Orthopaedic Hospital at Cappagh (NOHC) is situated in Finglas, West Dublin.
Established in 1908, we are the National Centre of Excellence in Orthopaedic Medicine, with over 500 highly skilled staff, including 37 Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons. Each year, we treat more than 26,000 adult and paediatric patients expeditiously and efficiently.
NOHC is home to:
• Adult Orthopaedic Services: providing same-day surgery and discharge for conditions including Total Hip and Knee Replacements.
• Cappagh Kids: Limb Reconstruction, Hip Conditions, Scoliosis, Neuro Disability
• The Bone Tumour Centre (The Primary Referral Centre for Bone and Soft Tissue Tumours, Surgical Oncology Centre for the National Sarcoma Service)
• Centre for Rehabilitation (rehabilitation over 65s post-acute trauma)
• The National Bone Bank (harvests femoral heads for use in reconstruction surgery)

This is an appointment to the HSE Community Health Organisation Dublin North East on a Public Only Consultant Contract 2023 by consisting of Cavan General Hospital 19 hours per week, Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown 10 hours per week and National Orthopaedic Hospital, Cappagh 8 hours per week.
Applicants must be registered in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of trauma & orthopaedic Surgery
